Casseroles and Coffee for Cancer

Healthy Eating helps to achieve longer life and we all know the importance of eating five fresh fruits or vegetables a day to keep the doctor away.   This can also lessen the risks of developing cancer.

A casserole can be made from a variety of fresh healthy ingredients – meat, seafood, vegetables and over the past five years, supporters of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk have raised thousands of pounds by holding their own Casseroles parties.

Francis in Framlingham held a casseroles lunch for five of her friends who each made a donation of £5.  Four of these friends held their own lunches a few weeks later and that round of parties raised a further £110.   One of the guests at this second round of lunches decided to put on a bigger event at a local rugby club.  She sourced the meat and vegetables from local farmers (Suffolk produce always tastes better!) sold 56 tickets at £7.50 each, another friend organised a raffle and the event achieved £540.  Francis’ original lunch for six had generated nearly £700 to help and support cancer patients in Suffolk!

If you would like to be the keystone in a pyramid of events like this, get in touch with the Appeal Office and we can tell you how to go about it.   Your event does not have to be Casserole-based, perhaps you would like to hold a small (or large!) coffee morning instead.    We have lots of items that would help to give your event an identity and can help with posters, banners, invitations etc.
