Tribute to Doctor John LeVay

It is with great sadness that we have to advise that one of our trustees and the founder of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, Dr. John LeVay has passed away.    He had been ill for some time.

In 1998, John LeVay persuaded a group of like-minded individuals to form a charity called Cancer Campaign in Suffolk.   He had an idea to build a Cancer Information Centre at Ipswich Hospital and this task was completed in 2004.   Since then the charity has spent a further £350,000 on a wide variety of cancer projects to benefit women, men and children.   John's energies and commitment in the fight against cancer inspired the work of the charity from inception and will continue to motivate the Trustees as we strive to achieve our goal which is to raise £250,000 to commission a Mobile Cancer Information Unit for Suffolk.

The Trustees are delighted to be able, with the blessing of John's wife Jo and Ipswich Hospital, to announce that in future the Cancer Information Centre will be known as the John LeVay Cancer Information Centre.
